No updates have been installed, please give me instructions for doing this

I never do that.

Why? Because if I change any step from Sony's own method folk would be mad at me. Sony must supply how. I only noted it due to the recent date.

have you tried

going to the HTML5 page at youtube and choosing to use that for video display?

I note this uses older XBMC software, now called Kodi.

"On 1 August 2014, it was announced that starting with version 14, XBMC will be officially renamed to Kodi."

xross media bar
The Sony award winning xross media bar(XMB)
user interface offers you a simple and intuitive way to navigate your Blu-ray Disc player's menus, controls, user settings and entertainment options. New video and music service providers will automatically populate the XMB interface as they are added, offering a constantly expanding and evolving array of entertainment options"

Maybe you can find something here to help you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XrossMediaBar

"The XrossMediaBar (pronounced cross-media bar and officially abbreviated as XMB) is a graphical user interface developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. The interface features icons that are spread horizontally across the screen. Navigation moves the icons, instead of a cursor.
These icons are used as categories to organize the options available to
the user. When an icon is selected on the horizontal bar, several more
appear vertically, above and below it. They, in turn, are selectable by
the up and down directions on a directional pad.

Since 2006, it has also been used in high-end WEGA TVs,[1] the BRAVIA starting with the 3000 (only in S-series and above), the Sony XEL-1 OLED TV, HDTV set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, some Sony Cyber-shot cameras and the high-end AV receivers."
(a Bravia section is there too)

Maybe if you can update to the Kodi software......????

HTML page in Youtube

Can you please explain to me how to do this.

if I can without getting blocked
Apr 21, 2015 4:25PM PDT

because "u" tube links and maybe the name use blocks it.

go to www."u"tube/html5 in your browser. Where "u" is for you

There you will find a choice to use the HTML5 player instead of the "default" for your device, which is probably adobe flash.

Your problem is probably why so many are going for small format PC's and then feeding the signal from it to the TV instead, so they won't be blocked or unable to access Netflix and "u"tube.

App not browser
Apr 21, 2015 8:58PM PDT

This is not a Sony, Samsung, or any other device mfg problem. James did you read the links I posted? Google has updated the Youtube app, to a state that it will no longer be suppored on oldered devices. Google/Youtube makes the app for yout TV, etc, and they have desided to not make one which works with all devices for all years.

As stated in the links I provided, you may still be able to view Youtube, if your player has a built in web browser. If the mfg has not updated your web browser to display the current standards, then you may still be out of luck.

If it has, it's surely documented in the user manual. Most smart TV's have something like it. Most DVD-players don't.

There's a firmware upgrade #195 for it if you have Vista or higher. No firmware upgrade offered if XP, but when you get on the page where it is, there's a claim it works for XP too.

Answer
No Longer Supported
Apr 23, 2015 3:17AM PDT

I posted links from Sony. Youtube no longer supports your device. No firmware update will fix this. This was a move by Youtube/Google, and does not involve Sony. If your device has a web browser, than you may still be able to use this to vist Youtube, but any Youtube app on your device will no longer work, now or according to Youtube, in the future. Your device has benn left behind.

Regardless of any other advice you may have been given, no fix, download etc, will correct, what has been made as a corp. business move.
