New to the smartphone arena!

by cdaigre / May 27, 2010 11:32 PM PDT

Hey, I have decided to take the leap and purchase a smart phone and internet package with Tmobile. I am one who can never make up his mind and research something so much that by the time I do make up my mind the technology is out of date. Anyway, I have not been as excited about buying a new product as i am about the Mytouch 3g Slide. Can anyone tell me if this is not to much of a smart phone for a newbie, and how much better is Android over a window's based phone.

Thanks, Cd

The subject line says it all Wink

Seriously, most of the Android hype is just that. You may actually be quite surprised at the performance of a handset w/ Windows Mobile. In fact, you could even load a custom ROM with most if not all (sometimes more) than Android currently has to offer. It really depends on your comfort level tweaking these devices. You might also look at the Nexus One instead of the mytouch slide. I find it a pretty decent device and certainly not limited to entry level. T-Mobile's HD2 is also an amazing machine, but will require a little tweaking as well. Worth the price IMHO.

There are a myriad of Android & WM forums to peruse. Definitely visit howardforums.com with all its sub-forums for carriers, platforms & devices. WMexperts is good too. IMHO you would be well served by reading Howardforums for a few weeks before purchasing anything. This will help a little with any buyer's remorse down the line.

Sometime pop over to XDA developer's forum. There's a solid five year's worth of info there ripe for the taking ;).

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
