New to PCs want to purchase a notebook.

I have always been a mac user 6yrs but have been outvoted by kids. I have been looking at dell inspiron 9300 my build comes out to 2500 dollars. a little steep but I have been ripped off by apple for years. What do you think about the 9300.

Just to benefit others and make the discussion move along.

Try to give quick info about said laptops. Dell's units are highly customizable so that model number doesn't say much.

In closing, I lucked out at the office and use one of our r3000 AMD 64 2.0 GHz 512MB RAM, 60GB hard disk with just about everything but a DVD recorder. We stick to externals since internal DVD recorders tend to be all of 2X speed. It's quite nice and we paid under 1K for each one. The newer r4000 is what we'll consider next time round. Just sharing that the office wouldn't go over 2K without solid reasons.
