Resolved Question

New to forum.....External HDD ?

Dec 18, 2011 9:11PM PST

Hi, I am new to this forum, and this is my first post. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction regarding using my external HDD. My 40GB C drive is almost full, so I installed an external drive to add space. I just need to know how to use it to free up space on my C drive. Thanks in advance.

Move what you can . . .

Pictures, files, documents, etc. can be moved. Just drag and drop. Installed programs will not move.

But Just a NOTE...... Those Drives Can Fail Eventually...
Dec 19, 2011 9:20AM PST

External hard drives seem to be a little less "sturdy" than internal drives and although they're a great tool for adding space and saving important files and documents, please recognize that failure could occur.. Always have backups of the files that you can't lose.. For some, reasonable advise is to find a second external hard drive and make a backup copy of the files you're copying over to the first external hard drive.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I moved my pictures and freed up alot of space. I was a little scared to do it because I thought that if I moved a picture to the new drive, and then deleted the picture from the old, that both pictures would disappear. Happy to find out that's not the case. Thanks again.
