From your list of three, I would favor the Canon SD450.
The other two cameras do not have a viewfinder in addition to the LCD. Most LCDisplays are hard to see in the bright sunlight. Many times you need to revert to the viewfinder.
The Nikon L3 has been reviewed and it has a very long shutter lag (the time it takes to focus and capture the photo). I would avoid it.

Hi There
I am looking to purchase my first digital camera and need some help as I do not know too much about them.
Here is what I am looking for:
Compact
Good Picture Quality
Easy to operate
Not too expensive 200-300
Looked at
Nikon L3
Canon SD450
HP 817
But not sure as I have no experience with digital camera's. Can you advise as to some good choices?
Thanks
