New! The ABB Club. Join now!!

Feb 20, 2004 3:33AM PST

I want to start a new club.

I plan to call it the ABB Republican club.

I'm thinking the members could place it after their member ID here.

If you want to join, just place ABB after your member name.

The ABB will stand for either;

ADORING BUSH BACKERS

or

ASK BUSH BACK

I suppose I could just let it stand for both! I sure hope I get some members in my new club.

If you want to join, just place ABB after your member name!

:( Ah, c'mon now you guys.........
Feb 20, 2004 4:07AM PST

Is this really necessary?

Those members who have chosen to have the initials after their member name have also chosen to not respond when asked what it means. It may be a curiosity, but using it for bait to start something going in a negative vein is unnecessary. You are capable of ignoring the member name addition just as they are capable of ignoring the questions of what it means.

People find enough things to fuss about here in SE without digging for something so trivial, don't ya' think? Sad

IMHO - let it go.

It's humor and camaraderie.

Anyway, there might be the occassional newbie coming by and wondering what ABB is all about. This is not a secret ABB society, but one that is well publicized, no doubt about it's meaning anymore.

Great advice. Thanks, Marcia.

No secret here what ABB stands for is it? I just thought it was a cute idea:)And we have said nothing negative about anyone! If anyone else wants to make it a problem, then I guess they are free to do that too!
Although I hope they don't.

Reminds me, Marcia...
Feb 20, 2004 4:23AM PST

Marcia, it reminds me of a used car salesman, messing with apiece of paper, saying initial here, and when asked why saying, "Don't worry about it, it's just a meaningless formality.".

Actually no matter what the intention
Feb 20, 2004 5:10AM PST

Everyone doing it will appear to support it to anyone just scrolling through.

Makes it look like a very wide spread support for something I think that most are against.

Assuming that others have seen it elsewhere and assume it means what I assume it does.

Roger, I've got it! TSFR. This Space For Rent. Hey, it's an election year and this letter thing appears to be political. If a vote can sometimes be bought, why not name letter "advertising"? A penny here, a penny there (grin).

Feb 20, 2004 5:40AM PST

Okay, guys.

This initial bit was in response to the original initial bit. IMO, the original ones were baiting, and so are these.

I think everybody has had their fun.

So, how about hanging it up now?

Thanks,

Imitation Is The Best Form Of Flattery.... :-)
Feb 20, 2004 5:44AM PST

They say that Imitation is the best form of flattery. I think it's amusing that you can't come up with anything more original. I guess if originality isn't your best suit, then imitation is better than nothing... Happy

I have to chuckle that you would include a symbol that most Americans know to mean something other than what you are suggesting. If other Conservatives come to SE and see all the ABB symbols after all the names, they may not stick around long enough to realize that there are more who share their views than oppose them here in SE and they may leave without finding out. If other Liberal-minded people come to SE and see all the ABB designations, they may be encouraged to stay a while. So Liberals have everything to gain and very little to lose by your attempts to steal their acronym... Happy

It really doesn't matter though because Kerry is quickly locking up the Democratic nomination. So ABB will not be necessary or appropriate real soon. Maybe the next acronym will be K4P or KFP or JJ04 or KE04 or RBN or IBN. So that will give you a head-start on finding a way to try to steal and imitate any of these acronyms as well... Happy

coming from you Dave, that was only to be expected.
after all how many pro Bush threads have you posted to, or even introduced.
as a disinterested Canadian I like it that people like Blake Cook, Charlie and even Rosalie have added the ABB behind their names to indicate that they are Adoring Bush Backers.
the only MIA is Tim Alden.
I mean this is what makes America the most beautiful and greatest nation on Earth.
Am i correct in this?

As I guessed from magazines and electronic news long ago. My point
Feb 21, 2004 4:41AM PST

was more than once one of the adopters was politely and civily asked what it stood for.

They ignored the request. It could have been unintention, till it was bought up again and still no reply.

Anyone with any familairity with the persons first employing the symbol could make a reasonable guess.

But round about rather than direct answers is expected based on past.

Commercial implies money. Please show all your loyal readers just where any person placing the ABB after their name profits from same unless their man wins which means your man loses and we all know what that means.

"Commercial implies money."

Wrong, it implies and means that it relates in some manner to commerce. Political campaigning is a commercial endeavor and defined as such in IRS codes.

Advertising for such commercial activies is against the ToS.

I'd have to say no matter how much I disliked the messenger, or even the message, that such as these tags are no different than any of us expressing an opinion on a candidate.

That said, don't you just love it when someone in the group says anyone would be better, that even someone worse would be better and could do away with them in 4 more years? Someone worse would be better? such pure virulent hatred to one politician is amazing.
