New! The ABB Club. Join now!!

Feb 20, 2004 3:33AM PST

I want to start a new club.

I plan to call it the ABB Republican club.

I'm thinking the members could place it after their member ID here.

If you want to join, just place ABB after your member name.

The ABB will stand for either;

ADORING BUSH BACKERS

or

ASK BUSH BACK

I suppose I could just let it stand for both! I sure hope I get some members in my new club.

If you want to join, just place ABB after your member name!

How to join the ABB Club (Adoring Bush Backers, etc.)
Feb 20, 2004 3:57AM PST

Clk on the Logout in upper right corner.
Then instead of logging out, clk on the Profile tab on the page that appears.
Add the ABB to your name in both places since I'm not sure which one shows on site.
In about 10 minutes it will appear, you may need to sign out and back in again.

Distressing news, I have discovered...
Feb 20, 2004 10:57AM PST

...that ABB has already been taken by none other than the Allman Brothers Band as seen here in this ABB.jpg picture!

And I had just arranged for some half time advertising at a major halftime sports show!

...went to Google, clk on the image tab, typed in ABB, went thru 15 pages of pics, and saw all kinds of pictures, but nothing of a political nature really. Guess it's just not that popular. Maybe I need to form a different club, use a different acronym. Ah well, like we said when kids...."hey, there's always tomorrow!"

Feb 20, 2004 4:05AM PST

Well, I kinda gotta stick with this one for a bit, but one can be members of many clubs.

Glad to hear it! (That we can belong to many clubs simultaneously) because ...
Feb 20, 2004 4:51AM PST

I'm not eligible either way (as UK) - and I guess you already know that, in the same way that you all know already who does belong to your club (letters or not) so the divisiveness(sp?) already exists. Therefore if it adds to the camaraderie of All folks and encourages by humour a more laidback rather than back-biting style for the topic, then I'm all for it. I guess time will tell, but I guess I won't be holding my breath. Wink

OTOH We have an expression "They would say that, wouldn't they?" (etym Christine Keeler in court case known as The Profumo Affair about 40 years ago). If adding the letters means that, anything sensible that someone wants to say is taken in the context of their ABB, then that sensible point will be lost through the "They would say that" syndrome and disregarded for this secondary reason. That would not be good IMO.

Gotta go and clean my soapbox now...

Mo

I always thought that I should change my name to Princess - we can ...
Feb 20, 2004 5:01AM PST

change our names (both first and last) by deed poll, as it's called, and one can then legally call oneself by that new registered name, though they do of course keep records for legal purposes.

In fact I think I'll adopt the unofficial version and change my login signature to Princess Mo. Darn, I just let the cat out of the bag (as we say).
