New term IoT(internet of things)

Mar 16, 2015 6:00AM PDT

Anything that can connect to the WWW is a possible link to make your world "better" but can cause havoc. Here is an example:

Let's not forget sometime ago, a govt. office had Chinese printed text in paper bin, due to "wall mounted themostat" which was wifi operated.

Check those TV ads for "home security" using your smartphone to monitor the house or select some menu options as another link. The example has a "refrigator" doing mischief.

During my travels, so many IoT devices used Linux.

That in itself isn't that bad but so many used older kernals and distros that were out before discovery of shellshock and other exploits found in the last year.

I found the makers to be oblivious to the issues to downright hostile about discussing updates.

New autos are not safe
Mar 18, 2015 3:14AM PDT

They've shown that newer autos that use wifi links are open to hacker attacks. if someone is capable, they can program to lock or mis-tune some auto apparatus to engage when it shouldn't, yada, yada.
