New Temp Internet Folder in Temporary Folder

Feb 23, 2006 4:21AM PST

I have a stray Temp Internet Files folder that just appeared in C:\Documents and Settings\Miki\Local Settings\Temp, created today at 1:00 AM. I also have my usual Temp Internet Files folder in C:\Documents and Settings\Miki\Local Settings.

The new Temp Internet folder contains following:

Content.IE5(empty) created today at 1:00 am
Content.MSO (empty) created 01/13/05
OLK15A created 09/27/05
ZUCPFUAK\CDN681AX685KD\Offline created 09/18/05
d empty
f 00000139
g 00000139
0x0000001_R
0x0000003_R
Hash File

Other than my usual Temp Internet folder in C:\Documents and Settings\Miki\Local Settings and the newcomer in the Temp folder, I have four other Temp Internet folders, which contain Content.IE5 with desktop and index and other assorted files therein.

Methinks this new folder can probably be deleted, but want permission to do so from a higher source Happy

Miki, It's Not Uncommon...Yep, You Can Delete It..

Make sure there is nothing of importance in the "OLK" folder.. Occasionally, by mistake, the user can direct "saved" e-mail to an OLK folder which is designated by Outlook as the primary backup location. If the OLK folder is defaulted to the "Temp" directory, then you'll have the second set of TIF folders, etc. created. The correct "Temporary Internet Files" folder should reside in the "C:\Documents and Settings\Miki\Local Settings" directory.

I've seen it happen when multiple accounts are set up on the computer and sometimes a second set are created in the "C\Windows\Temp" folder. But either way, I've never had a problem deleting the second set in the "Temp" folder.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much, Grif -- as always, I learn from your explanations. The ''OLK'' folder contains one file --a .jpg of a business card I scanned to add to an Outlook contact and deleting it in the ''OLK'' folder caused no harm.
