Question

New SSD, internet got really slow

Sep 2, 2018 12:52AM PDT

Hi! I've recently upgraded my SSD, and now the internet speed is way slower. I have gotten anything from 10mbps to 0.3mbps, even though it usually hit 25mbps. I've tried installing and reinstalling my internet adapter, but it didn't work. I updated the drivers for that device, nothing. It can't be a related to my router, because it works just fine with other devices. Please help!

So all you did was cloning the old SSD to the new one and then replacing it in the PC or laptop? Then it's quite strange. Is it still fine with the old SSD?

Hi

Sorry for the late reply, but I think I can explain better now. No, mainly I just got an entirely new ssd. I did try to transfer data but the old one was destroyed in the process. I'm starting to think it's Windows related. I've also started to see that I can't find connections, and the ones I do are way weaker than usual.

An entirely new SSD doesn't contain Windows, nor the drivers you need. So you forgot to tell the most important part of your story, how you set it up.

Sorry

Yeah sorry for that. I had Windows windows on a flash drive, and it basically installed all the drivers. Sorry if this may be inaccurate, I am somewhat on,a newbie. As I,was saying, I got all the drivers I needed, but they were outdated, and after I realized I had a connection problem, I updated them.
Thanks for the help-hope this clears up the situation

Acer aspire e5 573 I believe
As for the windows version, win 10 pro. It was on an usb flash drive.
For the drivers- I installed one in device manager, network adapters then advanced and I hit the update driver button. I did it online. Then I installed the other ones by searching for drivers compatible to my machine to my machine. I downloaded LAN and Network drivers there. I then installed them after they were on my pc. Hope this is enough info, if not hit me up. I'll fill in some more stuff though, such as less networks popping up and a smaller range, almost as if every network's signal was reduced by three bars. I think this may be OS related? Correct me if I'm wrong.
