New Sony FS790

Sep 22, 2005 4:36AM PDT

If anyone is thinking about the new Sony 15.4 I just got the follwing e-mail from Sony:

Pat,

I have good news! The NVIDIA Graphics card is a 6400- 64 dedicated memory. That would be for the FS790 and the ready to ship notebooks that offer that card. If you would like to make your purchase feel free to call me at the number below.

Thanks!

This is contrary to the Sony website that incorrectly says that the new machines can only be had with the Go 6200 that has 32 MB of resident memory.

Someday I hope they stop calling it a card.

I looked at one of these and there is no graphics card. It does have said chipset on the mainboard, but the continued overuse of "graphics card" leads some buyers to the assumption there is a card that can be changed out.

Still, its nice that they're using a more capable GPU, even if it's really an overcooked 6200.
