I KNOW I'm not going to make any friends with THIS one, but here 'tis:

Aren't we being just a little premature putting LETHAL WEAPONS in the hands in the hands of 16 year old people? What's the kill ratio of cars v. guns?
They're not old enough to smoke, but many do....
They're not old enough to drink, but many do....
They're not old enough to be held contractually liable for damages they can do, and most aren't.

I was personally happy when I got my license at 16, but I saw too many of my 'peers' get their first car, go out and start laying down rubber, tearing up yards and weave in and out of traffic like they were born to run the road. And I haven't seen many signicant changes since I was a teen.
Excwpt they're a bit faster to throw hand gestures and curse. And nowadays, they are too prone to walk away from an accident loudly proclaiming "not MY fault!"
Anyway, I just think we need to re-think our 16 yr-old DL policies. I understand there are some variations out there
