Question

New RAM installed

Jun 10, 2016 11:48PM PDT

I have a dell inspiron 15r 5521 with pre-installed 4 GB DDR3 RAM. I recently installed 8GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 CL11 SODIMM RAM as exactly required by the laptop. However at first it couldnt recognise. Then after several restarts I however see no difference in speed. Rather it reboots twice while starting the computer. Anyone knows if we can refresh/ makes changes in the laptop to effectively consider the new RAM?

Clarification Request
Did you get that RAM from Crucial?

I wish the specs were as simple as you noted but I've moved back to a few simple rules on RAM upgrades.

1. All modules in the PC/laptop shall be of the same make/model. No mixing.
2. I use the product finder at Crucial.com and order there.

Answer
Might be because of the RAM

Similar problem happened to my RAM upgrade, but it's found that the issue was from the RAM itself instead of the laptop. So mine is fine now. FYI~
