differences

between the PSP and Touch it's arguably the PSP
the touchscreen's are usually inferior due to an added layer that lowers picture quality, but the Touch has a glass screen to make up for that
Resolution wise Touch wins marginally, PSP is WQVGA while the Touch is HVGA
however on widescreen movies it wouldn't make a difference and PSP would win because it's screen is .8" bigger
PSP also wins on color, the Touch I believe is 18-bit versus PSP's 24-bit

not sure

I haven't heard about that, DVD format is 480P
720P refers to HD formats, and there aren't many players that do that, the only one I know is the 605WiFi
The PSP is a powerful machine, so I wouldn't be surprised if it could

one other thing i heard was that ghosting on the new PSP is much better than the old one, i like to play videos both off the UMD and off the memory stick, is this a noticable improvement?

The problem applies to games more than videos because of the higher frame rate
