New Pioneer Plasma Question!

Nov 28, 2005 12:31PM PST

Just bought a new Pioneer Plasma (PDP50A5HD) and hooked it up to our Dish Network and DVD player and the picture is not that great. I think I'm missing something, do I need different cables, etc. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated! Husband is not happy that I talked him into this and need help saving marriage!

New Pioneer Plasma Question!
Nov 29, 2005 12:11AM PST

Hi, it's usually the husband that is on the hot seat about the HDTV purchase.

How are you hooking up the TV??? What kind of cables?? video, component, are you using.
Upgrading you dish service and getting a Dish HD revicer will solive many of you problems.
Component hook up from the DVD player to the TV should give a very good picture. John

New cables?
Nov 29, 2005 4:56AM PST

I just used the cables I had, which I'm now figuring need to be replaced/upgraded, and I was thinking about upgrading to a DISH HD receiver - would it make a big difference? What types of new cables should I be using? Thanks John - and I know, it's usually the husband, but have to admit I'm probably more into electronics then he is.

Yes!! New cables!

I'm assuming that your DVD palyer has component outputs, 3 RCA jacks R G B, look at the back of it.
You will need to get a set of component cables, Radio Shack house brand about $30 will do fine. Just hook them up by color and audio cable. So you will have component cabel (3 wires) and audio cable (2 wires) from the DVD to the HDTV. Then secect the component input on the TV.
The Dish HD reciver will come with cables. John

Radio Shack will try to sell you Monster Cables, guilt trip you into buying them, they will. It's your money, but I wouldn't but the MC cables. John

Pioneer Blurry on the PDP 4350.
Dec 20, 2005 5:34AM PST

John,
Would you happen to know why my regular channels do not receive a clear picture. I think they are analog channels and it is blurry. I have a comcast HD receiver box that is connected to the Plasma media receiver.
I am having a Pioneer service tech come out to take a look but was wondering if this is common or if you know of any adjustments I need to make. The other thing I heard was to make sure the splitter that I am using is about 1Ghz as anything less could cause additional line noise.
Thanks,
