Question

New phone or laptop?

Apr 21, 2014 7:41AM PDT

I can either get the new HTC One M8 this summer OR wait until next year to get a phone and get the lenovo yoga 2 pro laptop which I would be keeping for college in 2 years. Advice?

Clarification Request
I rarely see home work, papers done on a phone.

Sounds painful. Why not a laptop?

A laptop would be nice

II don't necessarily need a laptop until college but it would be helpful to have one. My current cellphone (nexus 4) works decently although sometimes I feel performance is lacking and it randomly shuts off.

Wow. So let's check something now.

It rarely happens but some don't use their laptop till they leave for school. They get the laptop and arrive at school and turn it on to find out it's dead, needs to install hours of updates, they need to create restore media and more. The nexus 4 is not that bad a phone. It's unpopular to not have the latest it seems but my son gets about 3 years on a phone. That's 50% above average!

How about getting both of them.

Kidding, HTC rocks, it is simply the best available out there, the look is just too good and like they say quietly brilliant.

HTC One M8, is the device to get. Do not miss out.

Go for HTC One M8

The HTC One M8 seems to be a good and better option than your mentioned yoga tablet. The smartphone seems good with lte and other features that most of them yoga tab doesn't have.

I will Prefer Laptop
May 19, 2014 9:55PM PDT

Both mobile and laptop have their own importance in different areas. But I will prefer a Laptop. Being a computer maniac, my perception is that a Laptop is more worthy than a mobile. You can manage with a low budget mobile phone and survive. But without a Laptop which you require for your college can't be compromised for a mobile. Also a Laptop can be used for numerous functionalities (specially Programming) where as mobile can only be used for limited purposes (Songs, calling, taking photos, playing small game, etc). So I think that you should go for a Laptop and wait for a year to own a mobile. And one more point, you can get more advance features mobiles after 1 year. So think wisely and opt the essential one.

Laptop is better choice than mobile

I think it depends on your need. If I'm at this option then i definitely choose laptop, because for a college student laptop is basic need or requirement . This requirement does not fulfill by any smartphone. And one thing ,you could get bored after a long use of smartphone, but using laptop ,there is nothing called boring. And after one year you will have better choice in smartphone with latest technology.
