Use a real version of XP and we can continue.
Hi, I have been messing about with computers for a while now and decided to build my self a good pc. I have a Colors IT case with the following:
M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wifi mobo
AMD Athlon 64x2 6000+ cpu socket AM2
Casecom ATX 500w psu
4 GB (4 x 1gb sticks) Kingston DDR2 800MHz/pc2-6400 Hyperx Memory Unbuffered Cl4(4-4-4-12) Non-ECC 2.0v
Xpert Vision 8600GT super 512mb SLI PCI-E graphic card
Maxtor 80gb HDD for operating system
Seagate 400gb HDD for storage or possibly raid
Windows XP Ulimate Edition
The monitor is an old hp pavilion mx70. (I am saveing up to get a good monitor)
When I first hit the start button, everything started up fine. Pheeewww what a relief. When the screen came to life showing the post the letters were jumbled up and missing. Then the screen had the A I logo which was not a very clear picture. I was able to install Windows XP Ultimate with out any problems, but the screen was not clear. The installation instructions that pop up on the screen were ok, no missing letters. but , the rest of the screen has different letters and symbles where it should be blank. I thought this might be fixed when I installed the mobo and 8600gt drivers. however, I was disapointed. When windows had started the desktop screen is covered with blue dashed lines
The mobo has Nvidia nForce 590-sli chipset and the graphics card is GeForce. Is nForce and GeForce different chipsets or are they compatable? (Or am I just being daft!!!)
When I go into Device Manager, under:
! PCI Device
! Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
If I double click, the video card is not recognised and cannot find any drivers when trying to reinstall drivers. Even with the instalation disk or drivers i downloaded from nvidia and put on a disk.
Can anyone please help??
Any advice would be great.
