New pc build, 3 wires left to plug but where do they go?

Usually such connections are for indicator lights (like the hard disk indicator) or a reset button. The user manual of the case should tell. And the user manual of the motherboard should tell where to connect what. It's that easy.

you may be right. I am only used to what the motherboard headers look like, didn't expect so much choice for where to plug fans.

In most cases, these connectors are for the indication lights which located in the front panel area of the motherboard.

I highly recommend you to search for the user manual of your motherboard, in which you'll surely find the details on how you can connect these connectors.
