That model# doesn't ring at all. I suggest you crack open the case and take it from there to verify what card is there. But, if this was supplied by Acer, there's agood chance they have the drivers required. Delete the listing for the modem and after getting the modem driver, point it to that source. If you have the system CD by Acer, there should be a driver there too. The updated drivers opn the other hand need to be researched. Thus, you need to verify what modem or at least the "chipset" involved. Like Rockwell XYZ123, or Lucent AAA123, or Motorola ABC555-A for *any* possible updates. Here's a website for drivers links:
http://www.hardwarehell.com find modems and then surf the links. I found http://www.driversguide.com after registering(free) a great source now and later(if required).

everything works fine, the problem I'm having is that it won't completely recognize the modem card, it see's
that there is a modem card there but I get a message that says that I need up dated software. this card was in this machine at one time, I'm wondering if I need to change the slot that it is plugged into or make an address change or maybe I'm missing a jumper somewhere.
It is supposed to be plug and play, model # is bg45-ap53
I have run NORTON win doctor and there are no problems
