New modem won't connect to internet.

Well I just got a new modem (Speedstream 4200) and I seem to be having some trouble. It won't connect to the interent. I follow all of the steps and once I get to the step to turn it on there should be three lights lit up it says. Power, Ethernet and DSL but only Power and Ethernet are lit up.

Also it may be worthy to note if I connect it to my linksys router the light on my Router labeled Internet will light up. But the DSL light on the modem isn't lit up and I still can't connect.

I have an ADMtek AN983 10/100 PCI Adapter
Running Windows XP Professional SP1

I think I should mention that the internet works fine with my old modem and setup.

Sounds like you might have gotten a bad DSL modem.. Also who is your DSL provider? You might want to call them and talk to them and have them talk you thru the setup procedure..Sometimes you have to access the modem using the command prompt to set it up and type in the commands the modem requires to connect to the internet. I have helped numerous Embarq customers set their new modems up when embarq sends them new ones..and even the new ones sometimes don't work after we typed in the commands so Ebarq would send another one and walla it worked.. Cause it sounds like your old DSL modem works still works as you say cause they, your DSL provider supplied it.. and you probably just wanted to upgrade to a newer modem.

It's working now, I guess my ISP (Sympatico) was disconnecting all the older modems and installing new ones. All I had to do was wait for them to activate it I guess. Would have been nice for them to tell me that when they sent it to me though.
