NEW MB AN35(N) Ultra By Shuttle

Feb 25, 2004 10:55AM PST

OK I installed the MB and all the cards One AGP graphics card and a modem has an AMDXP2500+ cpu and Western Digital HDD 40GB,
the problem starts when I install win98se. I close the PC down and it will not boot up to windowsSad
I get this message: NVIDIA Boot AgentPXE.2.0 Build 082
V1.82, PXE-E61:Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting NVIDIA Boot Agent
Have no idea what this means! I went to the tech site
and of course the darn thing is made in China and the site has very little helpSad Would appreciate any help!
I have checked all of the cables and everything is in correctly.
TIA Glenda

1. "NVIDIA Boot AgentPXE.2.0 Build 082
V1.82, PXE-E61:Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting NVIDIA Boot Agent"

This is simply an ethernet boot option. It's not the cause of your issues.

2. Nothing noted about the power supply. At the 2+GHz club, you fit a 450 Watt Power Supply to stay out of trouble.

3. Try one stick of RAM.

4. Drop the AGP rate to 1X.

5. Latest BIOS please. Hint: It's not unusual for it to be out of date on arrival.

6. It's new and busted. Call the supplier and ask them what is to be returned.

Ok I went into Bios setup and there is no way to change
the rate to 1X the choices are 32 m, 64 m, 128m,256m,312m.
the other AGP setting I have is AGP 8X support, the choice is enabled or disabled.
and also AGP spread spectrum, this allows spread spectrum modulation, the choice is 0.50% or disableSad

That 300 Watt may dog this effort.

I downloaded the Bios flash to a floppy and guess what? without windows it won't open! And I can't install windows LOL I think it is time to blow this POS up!!
When the daughter gets back to town I will have her buy a new PSU, I will install it and give it one more try!
If Windows doesn't load this time she will have to take it to someone that knows more! I have never had this much trouble with a pc before! Just had a bunch of gray hairs pop out!! LOL
Thanks for the help Bob
