you have to turn it on in your blu ray player most likely. i had to do it to access it on my player. go to menu or setup on your blu ray and set it to dolby
So I bought the LN52A750 hdtv and BD-P1600 blu-ray last week. I want to get a new home audio too but haven't decided yet on what to get or how much to spend.
In the mean time I have my old Sony STR-DE575 receiver hooked up to my blu ray via optical wire. I cannot get it to hit Dolby Digital 5.1 for some reason. The highest I have hit is Dolby Digital 2/0 and Dolby Pro Logic. The blu ray is connected directly to the tv via HDMI. The blu ray is hooked directly to the receiver via optical as the blu ray does not have analog coax out and the receiver does not have HDMI ports. Sometimes the reciever displays PCM 48 also. ??? I have also tried hooking the blu ray straight to the tv via Component and the optical from the dvd to the receiver but still nothing better.
Prior to this I had an older Toshiba dvd player and Toshiba flat tube tv with this same sony receiver hooked up via analog coax cable. The dvd was hooked directly to the tv via 1 set of component wires. This always resulted in Dolby Digital 5.1.
I have tried some different sound settings on the blu ray but nothing has resulted in Dolby Digital 5.1 only 2/0 for some reason.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
