These are not gaming laptops.

Let's dismiss that now. But both have been seen running a few games. But nothing current. Nice, value, but nothing more.

Games aside which laptop should i get? Fast and durable is what i would prefer,Since i am very sceptical about this im just going to let you experts tell me whatsup. Similar specs but i dont understand why the price from gateway is cheaper than the dell... Quality?

Durable?

What you find in the consumer channels can't be called durable. For durable we go look at the Toughbooks. Both the models are good value machines that will work for years if we don't abuse them. What are you doing to need it to be more durable than what you see in the consumer offerings?

Nothing too demanding.

When i say durable i mean that the laptop wont give me problems in 1 or 2 years.. Unlike the HP Tx1000 that was expensive and as soon as the guarantee ended ( 1 year!) problems started. I just want the laptop to be fast and reliable to be honest and since both have similar specs i was hoping someone would take me out of my indecision.

Let me share.

My kid has a similar priced Tosh Celeron with 4500MHD 3GB ram and no troubles. But most troubles I see have little to do with the hardware but malware and such.

No one can predict if any machine will work for 2 years without trouble. Just visit one bad web site and let the troubles begin? Or one bad write to the hard drive and corruption. I think no one called these things reliable.

That's why we backup and for the hardware get the longer warranty.

Try this. Go see each machine and buy the one that has no hot spot under you palms and the keyboard and display are nicer.

Laptops to buy.

I had gone trough various brands and finally i settled down at Dell. It is worth, long lasting, provides good performance even after getting old. Can be easily serviced and low expensive cost. So i suggest you to go for Dell Laptops. IF you are not satisfied with your given option you can find more laptops from following link.

Kindly let me know your decision.

I agree with both of you.

For the most part i was leaning for the Gateway from the beginning and after i read some reviews about the AMD processor being inferior to the intel one it was pretty much written in stone.
Thank you kristina for now the dell inspiron is my choice. If i could only see with my own eyes that the AMD is inferior to the Intel well that could change things.

Thanks to both for the help, I will still love more opinions if its possible.
