New Laptop- Need HELP!!

by skburger7275 / March 19, 2007 2:56 PM PDT

I have a dell inspiron 1501 with windows vista. I am having problems logging into any messengers. I can log into yahoo for mail and homepage, but when I try to log into messenger, I get a "try again later" message. I thought it might just be an issue with yahoo, so I also tried windows live messenger, same problem there. I have tried emailing yahoo help, with no luck, I have tried contacting dell for assistance, still no luck. I have tried all the different settings, I have tried looking into the ports, but I am a newbie to the computer thing, so I am having issues. If anyone is out there that can help me through this I would appreciate it.

Check your firewall settings, most likely you just need to make an allowance to your messenger services.

In reply to: firewall

that is probably your firewall settings, if you are having trouble figuring it out, a good idea is to totally disable your firewall for a couple of minutes try again if it works at least you know that it is and you can mess around with it. Cause if you dont konw much about it you could screw up your firewall without knowing for sure that is the problem...

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
