new laptop for graphic designer

I'm buying a laptop for my boyfriend who's a graphic designer. I was thinking about a Sony Vaio as they have pretty big screens, but i need help!! I'm pretty clueless when it comes to laptops, but i do know that he doesn't wawnt a mac. please help me!!
