Question

New laptop

by bvukmani / October 14, 2011 2:53 PM PDT

Hello
I am in the market for a new laptop and I am considering a 17" hp pavilion or envy. With the news of windows 8 release on the horizon I was looking for some opinions as to whether I should jump out and get one or wait for windows 8 release? Also, while I'm at it, anyone have any opinion on the hps and/or what may be better (aside from Mac)?

Look at the news and how they are unsure about remaining in the PC market.

I saw that news since posting my question. Is there anything in particular you would recommend?

At the near 1K mark you get a lot. I picked up the Samsung RC512 and I see a newer model at BB.

as Windows 8 is probably 1 year away at least. It hasn't been released in Beta yet and WIndows hasn't started the free upgrade to Windows 8 (when it comes out) program if you buy a system with Windows 7.

Which computer is better depends what you going to use it for. People all the time ask which brands are better on here and the real question should be what MODELS are better for specific uses. Lenova makes good business laptops but not many great gaming machines. Dell bought Alienware because because they make better gaming machines then Dell.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
