Question

new kind of error

Aug 10, 2018 1:56AM PDT

hey there , hope yall having a good day
Ive connected my ssd hard drive to tv to watch some tv series
I disconnected it after like 2 hrs and attached it to my pc again ,
so 8 or 10 hrs go by & i wanna watch movies again & i face the error "the file file or directory is corrupted & unreadable" only when I wanna open my Movies file
usually the error makes the whole disk unreadable and is usualy solved with the cmd command thingy
but that method didnt work out for this one
I really want my movie file back cause thats about 200gb of movies & series
Anyone has any ideas about how to solve it without losing my files?

Don't you have a backup? Most people make a backup of what they don't want to lose.
And what exactly is the cmd command thingy?

Anyway, try checking the disk (from it's right click>properties>tools).

If chkdsk finds nothing wrong, and Explorer says "corrupted & unreadable" when you open the Movies folder (don't confuse files and folders when you explain something) all you can do is format the disk.

Netflix has a lot of uncorrupted series in the cloud.

Step 1. REMOVE THE DRIVE FROM SERVICE.

If the user can't do step 1, all the other steps do not apply.

Step 2. Install Recuva on the machine we want to run our recovery effort on.

Step 3. Add the failed HDD to the recovery PC and try Recuva to see if it can find the lost files.

I've lost track of folk that won't stop using the drive and the chances of file recovery plummet to zero.

And a nod to Kees about backups of what we can't lose. This applies to not only PCs but phones, smart watches, tablets and more.

TV's corrupt data
Aug 10, 2018 11:05AM PDT

Hi,

TV's are known for corrupting data, since they usually use different file systems and do not have a safe removal option.

Could you post a screenshot of the Drive Management? In order check on the logical part of the SSD.
