Question

new hdmi cable, can't dual monitor setup

Mar 1, 2018 1:11PM PST

I have been troubleshooting for quite some time now, and i can't figure this out. A little back story:

I used to have dual monitor setup. My main monitor was connected via DisplayPort and the second by HDMI, and everything worked fine( main monitor was at 144hz and second at 60hz). Long story short, my hdmi cable broke (It was not connected to any Input when it got broken) and i bought a new one after a couple of weeks.

When i got the new one, my second monitor would not work anymore. So i tried to put the new HDMI between my PC and my TV, and that did not work either. THEN, i tried to take the HDMI connection between my new monitor and my PC, and that worked.
I first thought that my old monitor got broken somehow, but it was hard to believe that both my tv and my old monitor died at the same time.

But one time, i had my new HDMI cable plugged into the computer and the TV, and the screen actully came up when i booted, but screen disappeared right after the boot screen.

Same thing happened when i did a clean install of my graphic card driver. When i booted up with no drivers in, i got signal on the TV, but it was only covering half the screen, and the picture was blue. But right after the boot the new graphic card drivers got installed, and it went back to black on the TV, but i still had picture on my main monitor

I have no idea what's causing this. Feels like i have tried everything, like turning my main monitor down to 60hz. When i plug it in, i can see that its trying to connect, and my computer have sort of "framespikes" when it does.

Really wanna have a dual monitor setup again.

Also, my specs are:

Graphics card: MSI RX 480 8gb (Reference)
CPU: i5 4690k @4,2ghz
Ram: 16gb ddr3
Main monitor: Asus 24" LED VG248QE
Second monitor: BenQ 24" LCD G2420HD
TV: Sony KD-40w2000
