New HDD not recognised

Jun 6, 2005 7:54PM PDT

Hi Guys,
I have just installed a second SATA HDD. It is recognised in BIOS and RAID setup utility, however, it does not appear in XP explorer. It is present in device manager which states it is working properly. How do I get it to appear in 'my computer'? I have never encountered this problem before when I've installed a HDD. I have updated my nvidia drivers, but to no avail.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Grant Happy

Drive letters

If you have tweakUi make sure you haven't got the 1/ drive letter it is using disabled.
In device manager try changing the drive letter.
3/ unplug your CDROMs and only have the systems HD and see if explorer recognises it then.
4/ Also change your other non systems drive like your CDROM to drive X and Y.
5/ If it is a secondary boot disk make sure it is made "active".

In other words make sure it has access to a drive letter which is next in line to your boot (systems) Hdisk.
