Question

New HD Camcorders rarely come with an IR Remote - help!

Oct 24, 2013 5:15AM PDT

My small company does presentation skills coaching. The video camera is on a tripod in the back of the room and we do our playback from the front (with the small IR remotes that came with our Sony Mini DV cams) and facilitate the interaction from there.

We want to upgrade to Flash or HD camcorders but they hardly ever come with a remote now unless you buy a very expensive camera.

And the wireless camcorders out now (with smartphone interface) only control rec./zoom/stop but not PLAY, FF, REW, PAUSE functions which is what we need.

Any ideas anyone?

Answer
We don't use the camcorder for such presentations.

We move the video content onto a laptop and that is where we run the show. Something sounds outdated here. Or just a group that didn't want to use a laptop?

A little more info...

we play the video back from the coaching exercises through a projector in the front of the room. Since it's done immediately after the exercise has concluded - there's no time to transfer to a laptop.

And for that we skip the camcorder and go direct to laptop.

I can't see what part of the world you are in but it's time to call Sony, Samsung, others directly and make what you want known. Here in the CNET Forums is a very good Samsung Ambassador which can answer if they have what you want.

And i can't guess why the usual camcorder isn't on the podium as that is another old method we used as the connections to the big display are often at the podium.
