Hi, Dr. Bill.
>>all of the performances yesterday and today have sold out at the local theater.<<
Interesting -- we went to a 30-screen multiplex that started a show every 30 minutes, and the 2:00 was only about ? full. We enjoyed it a lot -- it was definitely darker than the first two, but I would say at least as good (our local movie critic liked it better, so I guess it's a matter of personal taste). One thing we all commented on -- for the most part, the music did not sound like typical John Williams; it was more medeival in tone. That feather with the gift was not in the book, btw, and was a nice touch.

We went to see the new movie this evening. My wife bought the tickets yesterday morning, which is a good thing because all of the performances yesterday and today have sold out at the local theater.
The movie started off a bit slow but it did get interesting part way through. This movie did not follow the books as closely as the first two, and it cut a lot of material from the book. I'm not sure the movie would make a lot of sense to somebody unfamiliar with the books.
I liked it, but I did not like it as well as the first two. I'm still looking forward to the next book in the series.
