Question

New Gaming Computer

Nov 16, 2013 12:51AM PST

Okay, I would like to be able to make a new Gaming Computer which will mostly be used for gaming and browsing. I will be playing games which require good specs, like Battlefield 4. I would like to try to spend as little as possible, since I don't know how much a PC would cost with some of these specs:

i5 Quad Core GTX 760 8GB RAM - HDD, no Crossfire and only 1 graphic card.

These are the minimum I would like. Include other parts such as processors sound card etc. I would like a good sound card as well, but I don't have any that I want, again, just do what you think is best

I don't want to spend more than £600 if that is possible, if not, you can still post, just nothing over £700 please, unless you think it's worth it. I might not be building it myself. Just make sure that it is available in the UK.
Thanks.

Sounds fine.

The combo you noted is well done. You listed the usual CPU and video card but what is this about a sound card? With most onboard sound having improved over the years why not wait and see if you can go with the usual?

Some folk fall for replacing the network card too.

As to prices, that's tough as only those in your city may have exact prices.

I like this list for video cards and be sure they don't skimp on the power supply as if they do, trouble seems to dog the machine.

More questions.

Okay, AMD or GTX and why? I seem to turn towards GTX 760 because it is more affordable.
Also, could you suggest a sound card that you think would be best?
Could you make sure everything said is compatible?
I'm also looking for approx price, it doesn't need to be exact, just available in the UK.
Note that I am considering external hardware as well, since I only own a laptop, that counts for monitors and keyboards. Well, you know what I mean.
Thanks.

Why has to be what you want.

The list I noted has AMD, ATI and I am not going to debate Ford or Chevy (or Rolls or Morgan.)

I'm back on a laptop thanks to CNET gaming laptop reviews but I'm not a gamer. I went with the Lenovo y510p with an i7 since I needed the pop for the office's visual studio work.

Parts

It looks like 600# is about 1k USD.

I'm shopping in the US so you will have to adjust to your area.

Cpu.
I5-4670

Gpu.
Gtx 760 or Hd 7950 boost
In the 250 buck range their about equal.

Psu.
650w or bigger quality single rail unit.
Hint......Corsair makes some nice stuff.

Ram.
2x4GB@1600.

Forget the sound card......you can add it latter if needed.

Don't fit this into a small case.
Don't use a micro mobo.

There..... that should get you closer.
