New eMachine - can use adapter to connect a 9-pin to USB

Feb 17, 2004 6:45AM PST

I have a new eMachine and I am unable to get my palm IIIC or the eMachine to recognize each other. The eMachine has only USB and the Palm uses a serial port - I bought the hub that changes a serial to a USB but there is where they dont connect on my other notebook it is able to connect to the serial but to its USB - is it impossible for them to connect to eachother? the palm is older - 2001
Let me know if therer is any advice.... thanx

I used the Palm USB Serial device, but I know to look out for the issues like NEVER plug such in before loading the drivers.

Motherboard drivers really can do a number on end-users since most are unaware they get to load such.

Try Radio Shack and other outsource computer outlets in your vicinity, and see if they carry the adapter you are seeking.

You may also have to go to the manufacturor site to see if any driver update for usb support are available for your Palm Pilot, as well as possible firmware update. I hope you are able to find the components you need to implement the other system you are using this device. Bob, many end users out there have yet to realize why technicians call pnp= Plug and Pray LOL.
