New Crime from Tech Boom: Copper Thefts on the rise. :-(

Jan 26, 2010 12:11AM PST

Dear Buzz Gang and Crew, For those that may not be aware, as a result of the high tech and telecommunications boom that has occurred throughout the world, a new crime has unfortunately resulted..."Copper Theft". In many high tech and urban areas, copper thieves have made off with tens of thousands in dollars of copper wiring only to sell it to scrap metal companies for pennies on the dollar. Why? Copper prices are on the rise. This activity has really just begun to make headlines but look for more serious criminal activity of this kind to affect infrastructure and telecommunications in the future. Links on articles below.
