Question

new CPU comp restarts every 2 sec

Hello
i just bought a new CPU intel core i5 4690.I had a intel core i3.When i installed the new CPU the computer started to restart.Open for 2 sec and shutdowns and it keeps doing that.I took the new CPU out and installed the old one and it work.

My motherboard is Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Lga 1550

Check the motherboard's CPU support list.

Be sure the BIOS is up to date and the CPU is on the support list.

If it's Windows restarting, then you may have to install again BUT there is a known issue if you HIBERNATE and change RAM or CPU. You MUST !!!! SHUTDOWN instead of HIBERNATE (do not use the power button!!!) in order for Windows to do a clean shutdown.

You will need bios version f7, do you have that?

Depending what I3 you came from you might have just added 50w of power draw, check you psu.

Unplug your hdd's as a test.
