Question

New computer won't work.

Sep 9, 2015 1:44AM PDT

Just bought $2,500 worth of parts to build myself a new computer. This isn't the first time I've built one and the last one had no issues whatsoever when I built it.

Now with this one, I built it, started up fine and now the network drivers won't install. And I mean, WON'T. I'm at my wits end.

The drivers are the Intel LAN Driver to get the internet working, and I've been using my laptop to download all possible drivers to get it to work but I need the Intel (R) Adapter and I have no idea where to get it. I've been to the intel website and downloaded what was meant to be the Intel(R) Adapter but it just takes me back to the same drivers that won't install.

But now it has gotten to the stage where even attempting to install the drivers will crash the computer entirely leaving me with the error message "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR".

My build is:
Intel i7 4790 Processor
GTX 970 Asus Strix 4GB Graphics Card
2TB HD
120GB SSD
ASUS Z97 Deluxe Motherboard.

TL:DR - I can't access the internet on my newly built computer because the Intel LAN drivers won't install as I don't seem to have the Intel (R) Adapters.

Didn't the motherboard come with a driver and utiiity disk? And can't you download it? That's not "deluxe"; that's very poor.

It's time to buy another motherboard, one that comes with all necessary stuff. After all, it feels like kind of a defeat to add a $10 PCI network card that comes with the right drivers, doesn't it?

It came with a disk and all but the drivers won't install due to it missing the "Intel (R) Adapters" which can't be found anywhere on the internet to download or require.

As I said: if the driver disk doesn't work as documented and asus customer support is no help and the shops customer support is no help and you can't get it working, return it and buy something that works.

Most likely, that Intel adapter is a piece of hardware the driver installs expects to find. If it can't find it, it tells yoiu and stops. imagine you had an AMD adapter ...

You can't download hardware. And most motherboards nowadays have that hardware or comparable hardware from another manufacturer and come with drivers for it. Apparently yours doesn't. Strange.

Details like this are why I let the shop do the assembly of the parts to a working whole.

Since the motherboard didn't come with a driver CD and you can't find them at Asus's web page, that one is the one to return and try another. Remember I take it that you already tried Asus's own support.
