Hey guys.

Dont know much about the new gen of laptops and what how they suppose to be running as.

But i just purchased a ASUS ROG 503VD and when i turned it on and leaving it idle and such i get a very high pitch sound from the back left of the laptop near ESC.

I have linked a youtube clip with sound.

Let me know if thats just normal or something wrong. Thanks.

PS when i start playing games i hear the fan speed turn up whats fine so cant be that?

Answer
I've fixed ones like that.

Usually a paper scrap of such in the fan area. Let's just say the work can be too much for most owners. If in warranty, let Asus do their thing.

Easy?

Is ASUS good to deal with? Its the weekend so not open support. Ill go back to the computer store.

If they say its suppose to sound like that then what?

I don't think it's normal.

If the store says it normal have them show you another one that does the same thing.

Do not open the machine you might void your warranty.

Not normal and a familiar sound.

I didn't state clearly I've worked such laptops and this issue. The most common is a paper scrap. Doesn't take much or an odd factory assembly defect. As to how to solve, your choice of store return/exchange or warranty.
