New Account on Computer - SQLDebugger

Jul 8, 2007 7:40PM PDT

Computer Model: Dell Dimension 3000
Operating System: Windows XP

Hello,

I have just logged on to my computer. I went to the User Accounts section of the Control Panel in order to delete the guest account. While I was there, I discovered a new account called "SQLDebugger." It is a limited, password-protected account. I have no idea where this account came from, as I am the computer administrator and the computer's sole user. Interestingly, on the log-on screen there is no option to sign in as the SQLDebugger user.

Does anybody have any idea where this account might have come from? I find it alarming that a p@ssword-protected account would suddenly appear on my computer without any option to log in as that user on the welcome screen. Do I have a security threat on my hands or is this something more straightforward?

Thanks!

It's harmless

It was created as a part of some update you installed from Microsoft most likely. If you installed the .NET Framework, you'd see an ASP.NET account that looked exactly the same way.

It's not the work of some virus, malware, trojan, or anything like that.

....or "MYSQL Developer" does it also.

It's nothing to be worried about.

Hope this helps.
