You could opt for the next model up with the dual core i7 but CAD at school is usually at best last years version and you have a machine that is better than 99% of the rest of the world.
I'll be starting my freshman year of college at OSU this fall and am looking for computers. I'm wanting to buy the baseline 2011 13" macbook pro, but my parents are doubting that it's powerful enough to comfortably run all the software I'll be using. I don't use it for any terribly hard-to-run games so that's not an issue, I just want to be sure I can run any intensive CAD programs I need to. Will the Intel HD 3000 graphics work alright for this? By the sound of it, the i5 processor and 4gb of ram will be plenty enough and I can't imagine they'll be too out of date to use for quite a while, is this just wishful thinking?
