Never Used My DVD Player - Need Help

by BCD3 / December 12, 2009 11:58 AM PST

Hi, I've never used my DVD player on my Windows XP computer, only my CD player. I have a DVD I'm trying to run and win I put the DVD disk into the DVD Rom slot, nothing happens. I figured it would work like the CD player, just put it in the slot and it would run, but it's not.

I hope someone can tell me what I may be doing wrong, or if I need to activate something to get the DVD to play. I don't know much about playing DVD's on my computer because. Thank you.

What kind of DVD?

A movie from a retail DVD? Then you need a DVD-player program. Which one do you have?

Yes, it's a DVD movie from a retail, not bootlegged. My computer has a slot for CD's and also DVD's, it says DVD Rom. CD's work fine, can't get the DVD to work though. What do I need to do to get the DVD to work on the computer? Thanks for replying.

Thanks for that link. I still can't get my WMP to work with the DVD. I was reading on here that I may need a DVD decoder. Not sure what that is, but I would have thought that would come on here with the computer and the DVD player.

I'll try the link you gave me and see if that works. Will let you know. Thanks again.
