Networking with Win7 and XP

Jul 21, 2010 10:30AM PDT

So, I am having problems with Windows XP and Windows 7 communicating together.
The first computer is a desktop with WinXPSP3 (connected to router by LAN port) and is connected to a printer that I would like to print wirelessly from my laptop.
The second computer is a laptop with Windows 7 Professional on it.
Whatever I select in the Network Setup Wizard on the XP computer results in the computer showing up in my list on the 7 computer..but when I click it it doesn't connect and says that it cannot find the path...
Please Help Me!
Thanks!

Same accounts, same passwords

Each computer needs to have the 'same login account' meaning same username and same password, to set up networking between Win 7 and Windows XP.

Also, don't forget each system's firewall may prevent connection.

As to the printer I can't say, but I know that networking printer usage where the printer is only connecting to one system is often problematical. If the printer was networked, ie connected directly to the router, that might help. But I am no expert on that.
