Networking problem in XP

Mar 14, 2004 7:55PM PST

Hi all,
I have a problem with a wireless network I've had running for 6 months or more. Recently I have been unable to network with another laptop on the network. Before this recent problem we have been able to file and printer share, and I don't recall changing anything to cause this problem.

Both computers are running XP. The networking is/was done through a router/switcher (Etec wireless) and two wireless cards. The networking is done automatically via DHCP and was configured via XP networking wizard. I have run the wizzard numerous times making sure the work group name is the same etc.

It's like the two computers have filed for divorce as I can't even get pings from either computer, even without firewalls. Strangely I can ping two other computers on the router.

Any help would be greatly appriciated as I've tried everything I can think of, short of reformating the hard drive!

Oh, perhaps another clue lies in the fact, shortly before this problem occured, the shared folders between the two computers 'Seperated' in that each computer had completely different files in the shared folders. I managed to fix this by deleting the links in my network places and finding the folders again.
