loading the files isn't enough. you have to make sure that the Win98 system is configured correctly too. have you got File and Printer Sharing installed in Network Properties on both machines? once you have all your properties correct, you still can't connect to your Windows XP machine from your Win98 machine unless you login with a userid and password that also exists on the Windows XP machine.

I am running a network on two computers in my house, i want to make the host computer running Windows XP, and a client computer running windows 98. Is this possible?
I have been and bought all the PCI network cards and cables. Im running it on ethernet and i have a hub (network connect:3c16704)
I have run the 'network setup wizard' on XP and i have used the floppy disk on my windows 98 operating system and all the files have been loaded succesfully.
The only thing i have a problem with now is, when i search for the computer on my XP it says it cannot find it on the network. Where as on the 98 computer i try to 'map a drive' and the drive letter doesn't appear.
Please can some one help me sort this problem out. Thank you very much, james kirby
