Networking Problem

Feb 6, 2006 8:32AM PST

Alright. . .

I have a dlink wireless router. I want to be able to use the router to connect 2 laptops (1 XP and 1 MAC (OS X 10.1.5)) to the internet.

The MAC doesn't have a card and I need that to connect with an ethernet cable to the router.

The XP laptop can connect wirelessly.

The XP works either way, the MAC doesn't work at all.

Any ideas?

So, the question is how do you connect

(hardwired) your MAC to the router? or

Why your MAC doesn't works (after you connect the cable)?

For the first question, just get an ethernet cable and connect it...

For the second question, Try to connect that cable to Your XP machine, does it works?

then check your Router configuration... make sure it is DHCP enable...

Also check if it is use MAC Address filtering, if so, enter your Mac MAC Adress into it.

then check your MAC configuration, make sure its use Automatic assigned IP Address..

The ethernet cable works on the PC

I believe the Mac is the problem, but I have no idea what settings to put on the Mac. I've already entered the Mac's MAC address into the router
