How to identify that IP has been assigned to Laptop or Desktop ?

While I can run ipconfig on a Windows machine, this can vary with the OS in use. Also you may have wanted to find out at your router which changes with each router.

Please clarify your question.

In linux/unix use ifconfig command to find out
in windows you can use ipconfig
