Let's share someone tried to do this.
Internet cable/dsl modem -> ethernet switch -> PCs.
Sorry, only one machine may connect. To do more you need a router.
I have a 5-port ethernet hub, 10Mbps and am simply trying to network 2 computers. Somebody gave me an extra ethernet cable but while they were at it told me it was absolutely impossible to have both computers running. I found this odd considering the person who gave me the hub had 3-5 of those puppies on it consistently.
Both computers aren't exactly NASA knock-offs, as one is a Gateway with roughly 8 gig of space, the other an HP with close to 10 gig, neither bursting with RAM either. Are these computers REALLY too much for that hub to handle?
Also, if I can indeed have these both running simultaneously but only the HP is able to connect, is there some setting wrong on the Gateway? Thanks in advance!
