Network problems

i have two PCs networked.

i cannot see each of the other PCs on each PC.

i have IP addresses set up under 192.168.0.x protocol. i have all permissions set up and i can ping each pc and get a reply.

what am i missing here.

Firewalls are usually the reason you see nothing.

If you are running Windows XP machines there are probably firewalls enabled and this will block the other PC's from seeing each other. Turn these off and this should solve the problem.

Firewalls probably as the others said . But you do plan to do something to prevent others accessing the network right ?
