Question

Network Problem

Jan 18, 2015 6:56AM PST

Hi, i have this problem since i've bought a new laptop which is using Windows 8.1 Pro.

here's the problem

I'm only can connected to the Internet if i'm using Google Chrome, otherwise another browser such as Firefox and etc won't be able to get me online.

i can't install a software which is online installer, that's why i'm always looking for the Standalone Version.
ex :
i can't install Microsoft WebMatrix which contain an online downloading from its own software.
beside Microsoft Webmatrix, there is Xamarin Installer, Steam, or another software that requires downloading

I can't verify my Windows Original, because when i do in the Windows 8 Windows of PC Info. it won't connecting to the internet.

My Windows updates are fine, my windows can updated itself without a problem.
My downloading is fine too, i can download files from the internet using Download Manager such as IDM or FDM.

what is the problem here? what should i do?

Thank you, greeting from Bali. Indonesia.

Make sure you write down the settings in Chrome and see if you can set Firefox to the same and have it work.

Check your firewall's outbound rules. It may be set to: Outbound connections that do not match a rule are blocked.
Under this setting, MS WebMatrix, Steam, etc, would be blocked from retrieving content if they didn't have a rule set.
