Network printer fails to print

Jun 8, 2005 10:11AM PDT

The printer is an HP 882C, networked between 2 machines, both using XP home, through a router.

When I initially set up the printers to the home network, they all worked fine. I haven't used this printer recently, but now it is not printing. It's probably been about 2 weeks since I've printed anything from it. The document (Word) just hangs.

When I open the all active printers and faxes window, it shows the document ready to print, but the status portion has nothing showing underneath the indicator. Nothing under the port, as well.

The printer settings show "use printer offline." If I uncheck this, the icon, in the lower right, in the system tray area, pops up a window that says the document failed to print.

The USB cable is connected tightly.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I would try uninstalling....

the Printer from the Printers folder, and any other related software. Reboot and add it back in. See if that jogs it loose.

Yep, that did it.

Mike, it worked. Don't know why this happened, but thanks for the tip.
