Network not present or not started

May 16, 2005 12:55AM PDT

I have just replaced win98 with win2k and trying to establish network services. The computer can ping all the items on the network and all drives desired to share have been given share status, but my network places returns the above subject error. I have searched MS's help files and Google but am confused. Appreciate any/all help. Thanks.

Network items are direcway dw6000 server, printer, removable drive, and two computers. One running dual win2k pro and win98se, this one set up for win2k pro only.

I read this was not a "replacement" of the OS but a possible upgrade from 98 to 2000.

This tiny bit of trivia could have helped others help you. That client item is installed on a defauly Windows 2000 CLEAN INSTALL so I left your post alone to see if any other information would be offered.

For the future, try to supply the details.
